2nd Women in Tech NRW Meetup co-hosted by MechSyn
Nov 11, 2025
What happens when women working โ and thriving โ in tech come together at the Max-Planck-Institut fรผr Kohlenforschung?
A strong and inspiring network emerges โ and thatโs exactly what happened yesterday evening at the MPI in Mรผlheim an der Ruhr.
On the invitation of Mechsyn and in cooperation with NRW.Global Business, around 30 inspiring women โ founders, experts, engineers, chemists, and other passionate professionals โ gathered to learn more about the exciting journey of MechSyn and Dr. รzgรผl Agbaba, and to exchange ideas and experiences.
Also joining were koala startup network and Women in Tech NRW, which has already created valuable opportunities for women to connect and build a strong community.
Dr. Verena Schultz-Coulon, Administrative Director at the MPI, welcomed the participants from across North Rhine-Westphalia and highlighted the instituteโs research โ from its opening in 1914 up to today โ also reflecting on the role women have played in its history.
The takeaway from the evening?
Networks for women matter โ in their professional lives and beyond. Because exchange creates value, drives innovation in technology, and builds impact.

Official Incorporation Of MechSyn
Oct 10, 2025
Across the world, countless scientists have been putting together tiny pieces of a new synthesis route puzzle, perhaps without imagining that one day it could grow into a large-scale tool for production. But the vision and imagination of scientists often reach far beyond what we can see.
We are pleased to announce that, as of October 10th, 2025, MechSyn GmbH has been officially founded!
After years of preparation, research, and dedication, we finally signed the contracts and took this big step together. Celebrating this moment with our incredible team and supportive friends was simply unforgettable.
MechSyn was born from years of research at the Max-Planck-Institut fรผr Kohlenforschung, which is now also one of our shareholders.
With the support of the EXIST Forschungstransfer program started in april 2024, we are ready to bring mechanochemistry from the lab to industrial reality. We are deeply grateful to everyone who believed in us, shared their ideas, contributed their time, and brought their energy into this journey. You are all part of MechSyn.
A new chapter begins, turning years of research into real impact and building technologies that respect both the planet and the people. We’re looking forward to the exciting journey that lies ahead.

A big thank you to everyone who made this possible. ๐๐ป
For us, this is a sign that mechanochemistry is gaining ground as an alternative material synthesis method and is becoming increasingly relevant as an enabler of innovation in industries that rely heavily on high-performance materials, be they catalysts, semiconductors, battery materials, fuel cell materials, power electronics or other industrial applications.
Thank you to INAM – Innovation Network for Advanced Materials, Oliver Hasse, Christopher Daubney and the whole INAM team for the organisation of the successful event and a fantastic AdMaLab Accelerator programme. ๐ช
