About MechSyn

MechSyn is a materials technology and engineering company focused on the development and production of high-performance powder materials and innovative material recycling processes using electrically driven mechanochemical methods. Our technology enables more sustainable and efficient materials production for applications such as catalysts, battery materials, semiconductors, fuel cells, and many more.

MechSyn is born out of the innovative environment of the Max-Planck-Institut für Kohlenforschung in Mülheim an der Ruhr and funded by the EXIST Research Transfer Program of the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection and the “Grüne Gründungen.NRW” funding programme supporting sustainable technology companies in North Rhine-Westphalia.

We focus on scaling up validated lab procedures while integrating research on alternative new materials to disrupt industrial material production.

About the Role

We’re looking for a hands-on Technician to support our growing laboratory and production activities. You will work closely with our scientists and engineers, assisting with experiments, sample preparation, equipment operation, and pilot-scale production processes.

Key Responsibilities

•   Support laboratory experiments and sample preparation 

•   Assist with production line operations and process runs

•   Perform routine equipment maintenance and troubleshooting

•   Ensure lab and production areas meet safety and quality standards

•   Document experimental and production data accurately

•   Follow all laboratory, production, occupational health, and safety 

   procedures, including appropriate use of PPE and safe handling of materials and equipment.

Requirements

•   Completed technical vocational training (Ausbildung) or at least 1  year equivalent hands-on

   experience in a lab/production environment

•   Reliable, detail-oriented, safety-conscious

•   Comfortable working both independently and in a team 

•   Career growth in a rapidly scaling deep-tech startup rapidly scaling deep-tech startup

•   Good English and German proficiency required for workplace and safety communication
